Hey everyone! I’m Amanda, and today I want to share with you my journey to clear, healthy skin. But for years, I struggled with sensitive, dry, and acne-prone skin despite trying countless skincare products and treatments. I realized that true skincare is a holistic approach that includes getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet, managing stress, and exercising. However, nothing seemed to work for me until I discovered the root cause of my skin problems.
Spoiler: No prescription, steroids, medication or pimple patches needed! Within 30 days of changing this one simple hack, I saw my skin clear up drastically.
How I Made This Discovery:
For years, I noticed that my skin never really improved. It didn't seem to matter what I did. I tried everything. Countless skincare products and treatments. Sometimes a new serum or process would have a temporary, positive effect. But at a foundational level, nothing changed. I still had acne-prone, dry skin.
The older I got, the more embarrassing it became. I found myself constantly covering my face with pimple patches and makeup, which just irritated my skin and made it more sensitive.
Then, I moved to a new city and suddenly my acne got significantly worse. I hadn't changed anything in my daily skincare routine. If anything, I was more on top of it than ever before. At this stage I had a daily and weekly routine that I adamantly followed. I felt really, truly helpless.
One day, I noticed rusting around my faucet and white scale build-up on my sink and faucet, where I wash my face daily. As someone who's always been curious, I started researching tap water quality and how it could affect my skin.
After receiving a tip from a biology teacher that I could check my tap water quality for free on EWG, I was shocked to find out that my local water quality was one of the worst in the nation! The website showed that my tap water had many contaminants that exceeded health guidelines, including total Trihalomethanes, which were 122X above the recommended limit! That's when I realized that tap water could be a culprit for my skin worsening.
What Else is in Tap Water?
I delved deeper into the water system and found out that tap water often contains impurities such as chlorine, heavy metals, possible rust, lead, microplastics, and a myriad of other chemicals and micro-contaminants that can harm the skin's natural barrier.
More than 70% of USA’s tap water is chlorinated, which is necessary for biocide and keeping our tap water free from bacteria, viruses and living organisms. However; chlorine can wreak havoc on sensitive skin like mine.
I bought a chlorine test kit and tested the water in my apartment. I added a few drops of the tester to a glass of water and found that it turned bright yellow, indicating that the chlorine was close to 4 PPM. Most tap water has chlorine levels between 0.5 and 4 PPM. So my water's chlorine is on the high side, but definitely "normal".
However, studies published in the International Journal of Dermatology found that chlroine levels as low as 0.2 PPM can make skin sensity. At just 0.5 PPM, it can exacerbate pre-existing skin conditions like acne, eczema, psoriasis, and general skin sensitivity. Add some people are just more sensitive to chlorine that others, too.
These impurities can disrupt the skin’s microbiome, clog pores, strip away the skin's natural barrier, and lead to more breakouts. It's crazy to think that something as simple as water could have such a profound effect on our skin, especially for people with sensitive and problematic skin!
My Research for a Water Filter
I was determined to find a solution, and after searching for hours, I finally stumbled upon a high-efficiency water filter specifically designed for skincare called Filterbaby. It can reduce both chemical and physical contaminants in tap water, including chlorine, lead, and hard metals, and most impressively, it can trap up to 99% of physical contaminants as small as 0.2 microns, including bacteria, viruses, fungus, and microorganisms.
Discovering Filterbaby: A Water Filter for Skincare
One day I saw Dr. Anna Chacon, M.D, a dermatologist whose board certified and Ivy league trained posting about a water filter called Filterbaby.
It is a water filter designed for skincare and it can reduce both chemical contaminants in tap water such as chlorine, lead, hard metals, and trap up to 99% physical contaminants as small as 0.2 microns!
This is a very high efficient filter, to put into perspective: a typical bacteria’s diameter is 1-2 microns in diameter and 5-10 microns long.
This filter can trap bacteria, viruses, fungus and micro-organisms and contaminants 10x smaller! This means very tiny particles of corrosion and rusts particles that I was worried about will be trapped in this filter.
The Benefits of Filterbaby: Reducing Chemical and Physical Contaminants
Filterbaby is specifically designed to reduce up to 99% of Bromodichloromethane, 97% of chloroform, and total THMs, which were present in excessive levels in my local tap water. Although no definitive research exists on the effects of THMs on skin, studies suggest that exposure to THMs in water may contribute to skin irritation, dryness, and other skin problems. Using a water filter that removes THMs and other impurities from tap water may help reduce your exposure to these chemicals and promote healthier skin.
My Full Journey to Clear Skin with Filterbaby: A Holistic Approach to Skincare
As someone who's always been passionate about taking care of my skin, I thought I had tried everything, but it wasn't until I discovered Filterbaby that I truly saw a transformation.
At first, I was skeptical. How could a water filter make that much of a difference? But after trying it risk-free for 60 days, I was blown away by the results. My skin's inflammation and redness had significantly improved, and my breakouts were less frequent. By the end of the 60 days, my skin was clearer than it had been in years!
I realized that my journey to clear skin wasn't just about finding the right skincare products, but also about using the right water.
Filterbaby allowed me to take a holistic approach to my skincare routine and made a huge difference in my skin's health.
Since then, I've been telling everyone about Filterbaby! It's incredible to think that something as simple as the water we use can have such a big impact on our skin.
If you're struggling with your skin and feeling discouraged, I want you to know that with the right tools and a little bit of determination, you can achieve the healthy, glowing skin you deserve. Filterbaby was a game-changer for me, and I'm confident it can be for you too!
