Every high-quality water filter will have some impact on water flow. That’s not a flaw, it means it’s working! 

A dense, well-designed filter that is engineered to maximize contaminant capture will naturally create more resistance than a loose or ineffective filter. In fact, water flow and filtration strength are an inverse relationship—the more effectively a filter captures contaminants, the more it can slightly reduce flow.

If a filter has zero impact on water pressure, it usually means water is simply passing through without much filtration happening.

Over time, you may notice a gradual decrease in water pressure. This is often a sign that your filter is actively doing its job—capturing chlorine byproducts, rust, sediment, and other particles from your water.

That’s also why filters need to be replaced regularly. Filterbaby refills are designed for a ~60-90 day cycle, depending on your water quality.

You can also visually check your filter. A fresh filter typically appears clean and white, while a used filter may darken as it accumulates captured contaminants like rust and micro-particles—another indication it’s working.
